Beachfront Residence - Arch Cape, OR
Designed as a second home, this custom residence is cantilevered 20 feet to the very edge of a cliff overlooking the Pacific ocean in Arch Cape, Oregon. Crashing breakers and unique rock formations can be enjoyed from all primary living areas. The existing salal and shore pine groves were carefully maintained during construction which resulted in the house becoming visually integrated with the site.
Building materials were carefully chosen for durability in the severe marine environment. The roofing material is an unpainted alloy formulated to never corrode. The siding is bleached, clear, tongue and groove cedar which requires no restaining or painting. The window system is a commercial anodized aluminum product built to last for decades.
The home has a number of sheltered, intimate outdoor spaces such as this private garden visible only from the master bathroom suite. Frequent coastal winds make spaces like this a welcome refuge.
